Default No brake lights

OK - I guess it's my turn.
Both brake lights stopped working.
Fuses good, as all other lights they control work.
Filaments in bulbs good and I replaced the brake switched.
There is power to the switch.

Is there some other relay, connection, etc. that effects the brake lights?

Thanks for any assistance.

Sorry - 2000 XJ.

Tail lights, flashers and turn signals all work.
I've removed the trailer harness to eliminate that variable.
New brake switch.
New bulbs.

No brake lights.

Separate circuit, so, not relevant, except that it probably proves your ground is okay, as they share a ground point.

Have you tested to see if you have 12v coming out of the brake switch when it is engaged? Do this by hand - directly moving the plunger with your hand while watching your test light. If that works, next thing is to try the same test while working the brake pedal.

I'm thinking the switch itself may have moved on its mounting point and is not engaging when the pedal is depressed.

Also, the brake switch has multiple outputs. Test them all.

Next question: Are you testing with a meter or a test light?
