with the engine running is it blowing oil out the dipstick tube. if it is that is considered excessive crankcase pressure...

Cruiser54,

You've probably noticed that I have had absolutely nothing to do with this thread. On the other hand, I've noticed that you have contributed unselfishly. Keep up the good work.

OK. (great post Btw). Yea. In a flurry of posts that didn't seem to be about Cherokee Jeeps I lost track. I hate when that happens. This is OEM Teck for Jeeps.

I see you did not change engines,,now.

I wouldn't hesitate to check that CPS for over .35 ACV, right from the unplugged sensor, cranking. That thing is cabable of anything, at any time, and it literally can take just one minute to rule it out as a problem.

Besides Cruisers sensor ground test, I'd make sure the push-rods are on the rockers, and check for flooded. That's the one thing that will keep it from starting when you have spark, compression and fuel. You DO have fuel? If it goes with starting fluid, it didn't. That MAP. I think it might be one of the only things I've found that will keep my Jeep from running. I can unplug almost anything else, but pull it's line or plug off and it's no go...

See that the valves are not stuck. You can feed a length of nylon cord into the spark plug hole and rotate the engine via the crank pulley bolt to push up on (them), (one cyl at a time), if you need. No starter! By hand. Leave a good, long end of cord sticking out. With the manifolds off I suppose you might get spray (PB,ect) in where it matters more. I (twice), had to work a Briggs intake valve up and down 20 times before the spring would do it.

That thing with the orange wires is a ballast resistor that reduces voltage to the fuel pump. Mostly only to quiet it down. Bat. voltage comes in the front, and a few less comes out the rear, directly to the pump. It can be bypassed, eliminated.

Gotta use the gasket that is for the manifold, not the head.
