Default Fuel pump... mech or electric

I have an 86 pioneer. I'm thinking that the fuel pump went out (cranks but no go). It will fire with a bit of starting fluid but dies right away.
I cant seem to find anyone with a stock electric fuel pump. Everyone offers a mechanical pump. Any ideas?

I can't saw for sure, but if it has a carburetor, it's a mechanical.

Those wires are probably for your fuel gauge. Pretty sure that you have a mechanical pump.

86 should be throttle body injected.........electric pump in the tank.

Can be mistaken for a carburetor by those new to the Jeep world.

Okay Folks... Found the fuel pump. It is on the drivers side behind and below the power steering reservoir. Changed said fuel pump. still no fuel to the carb. Changed inline filter. Still no love.

Removed and primed the pump. Reinstalled and she cranked right up and ran for about a minute then died. Still no fuel being delivered.

could I have gotten a bad pump or is there another issue I should be looking for?

I know this may sound simple.. don't take any offense... but just for giggles, did you recheck to make sure the new inline filter is oriented correctly? And that it flows correctly?
Could be something else...but we've all had times where it turns out to be a little thing that comes back to bite us in the butt.

No offense taken... I appreciate the reply. The filter is the one that goes into the carb and will only install one way.

I'm leaning toward bad pump.

So we pulled the line off of the carb. No gas going into the carb. Pulled the line going into the pump and filled it with gas and got a steady spray. Pulled the lines from the tank and put them into a tub of gas... nothing.
