btw Dave, the reason it was flinging oil all over from the gear change was because it WAS overfilled. It said capacity was x pints I read x quarts. So i basically put twice what it should have had in it. Sorry I took so long to get back to you.

Dave, I have 04 grand , 4.0. Just re-geared from 3.55 to 4.56. I have gear oil coming out the front differential vent tube, the plastic cap (for lack of a better term) on the end is missing. It has been missing for a while, the diff isn't over filled, and I didn't have this issue before I regeared. Diff cover and pinion side both dry. Stumped.

Dave, I have a 2004 grand w/4.0, the shaft that comes out of the transfer case has what looks like a cv joint. I rebuilt the joint about 6-8 months ago but the rubber boot is already torn. Is there a suitable mod to replace this, and if so how difficult is it to perform the mod?

you probably had carbon buildup on the valves and blew it off with the high speed run. I think 5 grand was a little excessive however. 4000 would have been plenty.

Hi Dave, i donīt want to bother you, i just want to share my experience with you about what happened yesterday with my ZJ to know what you think about it. A couple days before yesterday my ZJ became to make a ticking noise from underneath that increases and decreases with revs besides the "normal" piston slap, anyway, i once read that engines sometimes need to work at high rpmīs for a short period of time with cleaning purposes so i did it, i went to a paved straight road, put my tranny on 2nd gear and floored it, rpmīs went to 5000 and i hold it for 2 minutes, after that i drove it normally all the way home and no more ticking noise, believe it or not, even the piston slap almost disappeared, i have been driving it for 2 days with no more noise. What do you think about this?, have you heard about this before?, thankīs for the time and your reply, cheers!!

Hi Dave, thak you very much for the advise, it really worked!!!, you were right, the culprit was the IAT sensor, it was clogged with carbon, i just cleaned it out with turbocine and then reseted the ECU and now it runs like new, thank you again for your time and cheerss!! i am really happy!!

Hey Dave ... got a quick question for you. I did an oil change today and noticed when I was warming up the car that the oil filter housing was leaking a the seal on the block. It doesnt leak when the car is turned off Ive been going thru oil like crazy so I need to get this changed out. I hear its quite difficult to change because of the space issues and the torq nut is hard to break loose. Do you have any suggestion for repairing this leak.
