Diesel Engine Swap in an XJ?

I have the idea of modifying a cherokee xj, put a toyota diesel v8 engine the one that uses the land cruiser, do you think it will work perfect? And how much will it cost to do a project like this?

No, it would not work perfectly. It would cost about as much a used Land Cruiser.

Whats the goal of the diesel swap? The cool factor? The ability to run diesel? The power increase?
If you are just after the power increase I would recommend turbocharging the 4.0L. With the current selection of engine management available its never been a more achievable goal.
