Default 6.5l diesel swap

hi i have a 99 xj orvis model its the 2.5 td vm engine that jeep put into these for european/british markets its a pain in the ar-- , 4 sepeerate cylinder heads , dont ask but i've been given a 6.5l diesel oldsmobile engine with boxes and boxes of extras , it was going to be fitted to a range rover , am wondering if this is a viable /worthwhile swap, any input would be appreciated as most people over here in uk/ireland think if its not a land rover its not a 4x4 , thanks dee
mines a 99 xj orvis 33" muds , 4" lift using f150 front coils and beefed up leafs from nissan van which cost about $15 ,shocks are all +4" skyjackers got them cheap to,

If your asking if the 6.5 would swap in to the xj id love to see it. Being that your jeep is already a diesel you would have a leg up compared to us here in the states where we only had the gas option. Personally im waiting to do the TDI swap on my XJ when the 4.0 finally dies.

No, definitely not worth it. If you want to swap another diesel in there, find a Cummins 4BT.

The 6.5 diesel is basically a complete piece of crap, you would be best off selling it and getting a diesel thats actually worth the time and money

I would like to see a VW TDI in a jeep, its a small engine but the aftermarket is huge. I have seen one in a wrangler before.

would a 7.3 power stroke be an option?

that would be amazing.

yeah that would be great , it would also be powerful enough to tow a tanker to fuel it , you know how much fuel is here in uk, its the same as you paying about $10 a gallon, what a pain, lol , dee

The 7.3 weighs almost 1000 pounds and the size of it would make it almost impossible to fit

I've got an XJ and a 7.3 F-350 that sit next to each other in the driveway. There's a reason the F-350's engine compartment is so bleepin big...

What year is your 6.5?? The mechanical 93's were ok...anything after that are extremely high maintenance...

The 6.2 n/a was the best diesel chev ever made.
