Arrow broken axle???

Hello again all!!

I am still re-building my xj since the wreck, and I need your expert opinions again...

I think the axle shaft was bent, the rear wheel had a wicked wobble in it driving down the road. I pulled it out, and have another one on the way from e-bay (practically stole it).

When I got the shaft out, I noticed there is some kind of ring, that is also broken inside the axle tube. I don't know what it is, or what repairing it will look like. Big deal or not?? This is just a hobby, not a daily driver.. but I still dont want to have to get too crazy with it, or replace the entire axle.. BTW, I'm pretty sure it's a dana 35, no c-clips.

Oh yeah, one other question... are the rear axle shafts interchangable right to left on the D-35??

Where are you located? If you are close enogh to pick it up, I have a D35 in my 87 you can have. Just in case your housing is damaged also.

Winston- I'm not terribly close to you, but still very interested in picking up an extra D35. Mine is an 87 also. Shoot me an e-mail to hoopdaddy6@gmail.com, and we can discuss further. Might even be worth a road trip!

Mixed89- You're right, this picrure kinda sucks. I will try to get a better picture up if I get a chance today..

Does anyone else out there know what we are looking at here? It might not be a big deal, or could be a $5 part. Or it could be a huge deal, and cause me problems down the trail. I just wanted some expert's opinions. I don't want to put this back together, in hopes that all will be well, then break down on the trail.

Sorry.. Can't produce a much clearer picture.

Looking closer, it's a rubber seal?
