Default 8.25 rear axle

Hey y'all, so I was looking at the rear axle on my 1999 cherokee and noticed a rubber line that was broken and just hanging down. It's on the left side of the rear. It comes out of the frame and goes straight to the top side of the axle. I can't seem to find out what is is. Any ideas?

Thanks

Probably the breather. There should be a Barb on the axle that it attaches to.

Yeah thats probably what it is. I'd check your diff fluid ASAP as well. If you've went through any rain or water with that breather off then you'll likely have gotten water in the diff and emulsified your diff fluid. If the fluid is grey then I'd change it pronto.

As long as you need to repair this anyway now is a good time to "Upgrade" it by moving it up higher if you do any creek, water, mud crossings. Mine for instance is now located up on the fuel tank fill tube also for larger tires a good idea.

I extended mine to behind the drivers side tail light housing.
