Hot top is not cheap the price of oil is high so before u trash the whole industry lowrange look at the price of gas when u fill up also you do not know how big my driveway is.
hottop is made with petroleum products and bitiminus rock. plus you gotta put gas and fuel in the machines. if your implying that you could get a parking lot done for 6g's then someones ripping you off.
I have all the parts and im not a professional mechanic my dad has worked in garages but is getting older and has a bunch of his own stuff to fix right now we really don't have the time to mess with it he would rather fix his Harley and his wheelers go figure.
Ive got all the parts the oil pan the rear main and the gaskets I just picked them up and am having them installed next week.
Ive done a couple oil changes myself on this and everytime not once did I notice oil on the filter adaptor what is on there is old pastey caked up oil.
Nothing is wet on that adaptor I also cleaned and wiped off my oil pan and the back of the block went to the store to get some gas quick and parked it.
Then I watched it like a couple of you said and it was seeping out the oil pan the front of it not the rear and running slowly down to the back of the motor and eventually puddling up and dripping off just below the oil plug.
Im sure some of you could see how that would happen.
So it is still unclear if the sealant slowed down another leak such as the rear main because all I can see oil coming from is the oil pan at the moment it doesn't appear to be leaking out any other place but while im paying why screw around for 20 bucks just have the place put in the rear main

It's your money. Pay way too much if you want to. You came here asking for help and people are trying to help you. If you were just going to have a shop do it the whole time why not just drop it off, tell them to fix your leak and go pick it up when they're finished?

Anyway that seal can leak. It's the ballancer it's self that contacts the ID of the seal in the cover when it's installed. If you run your finger on the back side, (rearward) side of that pully and your finger comes out oily, that seal is probably shot.
It might also leak there if that front vent on the valve cover is not free to vent.
