Why are the XJ's not included in this recall?

Because we have too many duplicate threads going about the Grand Cherokees, Chryco didn't want even more duplicate threads about XJs.

Maybe XJs don't have this problem.

Or maybe we are just always so low on fuel there isn't enough there to burn

Maybe because we have metal bumpers and they have plastic?

Someone already said that in the other thread about this.

It is likely due to the leaf springs on the XJ vs. Coil Springs on the ZJ/WJ/KJ. The leaf-springs on an XJ extend behind and below the fuel tank providing some protection from under-riding vehicles (the weight of the Jeep would be carried by the springs and shackle mounts rather than the fuel tank), the ZJ/WJ/KJ have coil springs so no suspension/frame components extend behind/below the fuel tank and it is the first thing hit by an under-riding vehicle and is subjected to the entire weight of the back of the Jeep.

Because most guys have them lifted 4 feet in the air, offenders just drive right on under.

The Cjs and Wranglers aren't included in the recall either.

Their gas tank is right there at the rear of the vehicle. No back bumper to speak of.
