Your dad is correct that it looks like a rear main seal. It tricked me as well. I had bought the seal and pan gasket, then returned them when I found that my seal is fine at 272,000 miles. Well, almost fine
Those oil filter adapter O rings are a common problem. That link I posted eirlier might turn out to be helpful.

im starting to wonder as I just changed my oil recently yesterday and I decided to buy some more sealant this time I stumbled across blue devil.
Now I previously only tried bars leak brand which actually seemed to slow it down alil.
But now after one day im down a half of quart just about so it seems yesterday I had about 5.5 qaurts now I prolly have 5.
Product said it takes like 2 days of driving around.
My dad told me to pour the stuff in first then add the new oil.
I hope I dident make things worse I mean ppl have said this stuff really worked out for them

Well ya its 50-60 and hour normal labor rate and you gotta figure the dealer would want 1000$.
My dad believes the rear main has been leaking however the garage noticed the rust hole in the oil pan and pointed it out dident really confirm the rear main.
so I should clean the engine right off then watch it right away and see where it comes from.
I mean the garage already found a hole in the oil pan but it was leaking before that and burning oil.
When I park at a store and come back out theres atleast 2 puddles.
Also why would I have an oil filter adapter??? this is not the aftermarket forum is it my Cherokee is pretty much bone stock. Never herd of that

Oil filter adapter is standard equipment. Have I posted this for you before?
I'd be looking up ABOVE first, and VERIFYING the source of the oil leak YOURSELF.
Everybody, who doesn't own or have to pay for or perform your vehicle repairs, loves to poke their noggin UNDER the Jeep and come out bearing the false bad news that your RMS is leaking.
Many mechanics, friends, people on Jeep forums who can’t see your Jeep from where they’re at, and good old Uncle Bob seem to enjoy telling you it’s the rear main seal. Has a catastrophic ring to it, doesn’t it?
A simple leak at the back of the valve cover or other source could produce the same symptoms. You don’t need to be a mechanic to figure this out. If you have good eyesight and a dim flashlight, you’re good to go on your own. Don't jump on the RMS/oil pan gasket bandwagon right off the bat.
Almost any oil leak on your 4.0 is gonna drip from the RMS area for two simple reasons.
First off, the engine sits nose-up and any oil will run back to the RMS area. Secondly, the RMS area is also the lowest point on the engine. Simple physics and the old plumber's adage apply here. "$hit flows downhill".
Valve cover gasket, oil pressure sending unit, oil filter adapter seals and distributor gasket, in that order, have to be eliminated as possibilities first.

VERIFY the leak yourself first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
Read my post on diagnosis. YOU do it. Quit relying on other folks.
Studies have shown that more Jeeps get fixed with hands and eyes under the hood, than with keyboards and monitors. Or smartphones.

It very could be the oil pan is leaking also. Point is. Use your own God given senses and don't rely on conjecture and **** poor suggestions from others when you have those senses.

The guy at the garage who has worked on race cars for years and removed plenty of trannys and motors climbed under the car and looked and pointed to the oil pan and the rust hole and said see its dripping right out here and sense you have to remove the oil pan you could have the rear main replaced aswell if I wanted to
but the obvious leak which ive never had till recently is a rust hole in the oil pan. my car has been leaking and burning oil for awhile so appearently I have 2 leaks and im getting a new driveway installed last thing I wanna do is ruin a 6 thousand dollar driveway

You could have finished replacing the oil pan and every gasket on the motor since you started this thread.
