It's not attitude. It's called a sense of humor. You oughta invest in one.
I do have a sense of humor. I laugh at the TV when nobody is around.

But I did not know the OP has made no attempt to finish his profile. Or introduce himself. So if it is just a "sense of humor" I take back what I said.

OR provide us with an update on the noise. Just stated he got it fixed. Not cool at all after we've been advising him all along. So, I used a sense of humor to subtly tell him so and he got offended.

I see. I also didn't catch that the issue got resolved until later. Well like I said I'm sorry for giving you guys **** when it wasn't needed.
My impression was that you guys were frowning on the fact that he did not check one thing first and started assuming it was something else.

That happens frequently and is very frustrating. We offer proven ideas and testing procedures and the OP decides they want to wait for "just the right answer" without realizing automotive diagnostics are sometimes a process of elimination.

Hey Pete! Cool "Reinx" dellie you got there. Yea, posters, PLEASE at least post what you have in your info. Fine that it's in post #1 as well, but if some pro like Cruiser is looking at page three, well it's just an unwelcome pain to not have it right there. (and need to look for it, or just ignore the post). .... Sheez..Glad the noise went away.

I don't claim to be an expert at any of this stuff but every now and then I have some knowledge to impart. I've been a Jeep owner for less than one year but I sit down every morning with my bowl of Cheerios and read the OEM Tech forum like it was the Sunday paper. That is why I know things, not because I've spent the past ten months taking my XJ apart and putting it back together (but now that I mention it...)

After we've offered advice on how to approach a certain issue, the OP tells us what worked and we can then pass that on to the next 100 people with the same problem. If the OP doesn't tell us then it's a waste of time. He could take it to a mechanic and exchange money for expertise or he can ask here and exchange knowledge. Also, folks who actually use the search feature may stumble upon this thread and say "Hey, that's the exact same problem I have" only to discover that after wading through 3 pages of troubleshooting the OP offers no solution, only the proclamation that they fixed it.

Anyhoo, it appears that he's gotten what he wanted from us and has moved on. Fine by me.

I understand completely! I use the search button eveytime I have a question before even considering creating a new thread.

I have been working on cars for quite a few years now and trust me! I know how much of a pain in the butt it can be to troubleshoot. So with that being said I understand and I agree with you guys 100% anytime a new thread is opened it should be resolved like a ticket.

Excellent points and I agree! Like I said in the post above, I use the search feature like there is no tomorrow when I have a question or issue with my jeep. Might I say if you know how to use it correctly it is one hell of a good tool! And it would irratate me to read through a bunch of pages to find no resolution. So I agree with you, and if this is a recurrent issue I will keep that in mind and try my best to enforce it in later posts.
