I'm flat towing my XJ behind my truck and everything seems to be fine. I followed the owners man. To get the trans and transfer case set up right. I did a test pull and all was good until I did a u turn and the jeeps wheels went the other direction from the way I was turning in the truck. Is this something I did wrong during set up or is it just not good to do u turns when flat towing. Any help would be great. Thanks

When towing a vehicle do not lock the steering, locking the steering will cause damage.
Also, start the vehicle to be towed and shift to Drive then Nuetral.
Automatic transmissions can be (read - most likely will be) damaged if you shift from reverse to nuetral then tow the vehicle.
Disclaimer: Use of the following information is at your own risk.
Center the steering wheel on the vehicle to be towed.
Connect a bungee cord between the steering wheel and brake pedal.
The connection method will depend on the length of the bungee cord used.
Test the setup in a safe isolated area.

Unlock the steering or you'll drag the tires sideways through turns, lol.
I pull an XJ around behind a motorhome. While you have a small bit of overhang on the truck, it's a huge problem with a motorhome...the tow bar moves the opposite direction from what you are turning (pivot point is the rear tires), and pushes the towed vehicle the wrong way momentarily.
If the XJ's front alignment isn't just right, toe and caster, it won't follow you at very low speeds, or when you turn from a dead stop.

i know you didn't ask this, but just to be sure, you have to shift the trans to neutral, then shift the t-case to neutral, then shift the trans to PARK.
do not use a bungee cord on the steering wheel, or a seatbelt, or a ratchet strap. you want the steering wheel to turn with the wheels when you turn a corner.
just turn the key back so the lights on the dash are out. just make sure the steering wheel is unlocked.

caged, let me clarify my method.
Bungee should not prevent steering wheel from turning, only assist the steering wheel in returning to center position.
I should have been more specific.
I have used this method when towing vehicles with poor or mod' suspensions/steering.
As they sometimes don't like to return to center after a turn. And when they do return can do it very abruptly.
