93 driving me crazy please help its the only car we have !!!!!
ok here is the story we bought the jeep guy said it was running fine he went in the store came out and started up but barely made it home.. when i got it towed to the house it started right up ran for about 1min started coughing and died.. so started it back up it took a few seconds but it did start then idled rough and died.. was told on here to change the IAC i did but no different so i changed the plugs, cap, rotor still no different idles then dies and wont take fuel... so i checked the fuel filter it was trashed put a new one on and noticed it was close to empty so i also put more gas in it along with a can of sea foam... now it will hardly start at all cranks and cranks and if it fires it dies... i could hear the pump prime and could hear it while it was trying to run .... so i had a friend crank it over while i sprayed small amounts of carb cleaner in the throttlebody it idled great ...... i need to fix this thing asap its all we have and money is tight what test can i do??????? thanks sorry

You might want to check the throttle body base gasket. Some Cheby's with TBI have a simular problem to yours. When the base gasket is bad and you spray something close or on the throttle body base the engine will smooth out. Just an idea!

Get a hold of a fuel pressure gauge (can be rented at parts store) and install it on the schrader valve on the fuel rail.
Compare your readings to factory spec. Yes, there are other possibilities, but proper fuel delivery needs to be ruled in or out EARLY in the troubleshooting process.

If the fuel pump is really that loud.. Change it.. It is pushing air and not building pressure.
I had a pump go on my other trail rig from sitting a couple years and running it low on fuel...
The fuel is used to cool the pump, so running it out of fuel will help kill the pumps quickly.

But if your pump has always been quiet and now it is loud? That can be telling you that your pump is on its way out the door.
Never install a cheap pump. I seek out brand names like Bosch, Dephi, etc.

If it's that bad you need to clean the whole fuel system including the fuel tank, injectos, rail, and all lines and fuel pump. If you do it piecemeal you will continually have problems
