hey y'all
99 Classic 4.0 4x4
Got a head scratcher
shopping for new Mopar engine mounts.
Why am I getting two different part numbers with different prices (52019278AD for $40 and 52019201AC $70) ?
Is there any difference?

My '97, '98, and '99 catalogs show the 52019201AB. My '00 and '01 parts catalogs show 52019201AC. IMO the letters don't mean anything.
I know the 2 websites you posted links to say that the 52019278AD fit but I wonder. Look here:
https://www.factorychryslerparts.com...2019278AD.html
No mention of an XJ for 52019278AD.
But do for a 52019201AC here:

If it were me and I wanted a Mopar one I would go 52019201AC.
Of course this is where me having cultivated a good relationship with the part guys at my Jeep Dealership comes in handy.
They would help me even while knowing that I might not be buying the part from them cause I can get it cheaper elsewhere.
They understand. But if we are only talking a couple bucks then I would get it through them.
Don't just automatically assume your local dealership won't be competitive on pricing.

They are both not worth the money. The stock design is pure crap. I say this from experience running them with stock and modified 4.0L engines. I have nothing but good things to say about the Rusty's Offroad mounts part number RP-MMR1-UV.

The problem I have with those is that I am more concerned with road manners and ride quality than I am with ultimate strength. My Jeep is not a crawler or a trail beater.. It's a semi-daily driver with the occasional light to medium trail. It's something I need to be comfortable driving on 1,000 miles camping trips and still perform a nice bit better than stock off the pavement.
Lots of people complain about vibration feedback with all those mounts (whether poly or rubber) but half of them don't care because it's just their offroad toy or don't care about ride quality, comes with the territory
. I care because mine is not an offroad toy. It's on pavement 90% of the time. The original mounts may not give me as much strength on the trail and I may lose a bit of torque vs those other mounts, but I rather the ride be comfortable for what I use my Jeep for. OEM lasted me 19 year with everything I put the Jeep through

Thanks man I think you steered me in the right direction.
Upon further research I am pretty sure you're right about it being 52019201AC. If I do a search by vehicle, instead of cross referencing those Mopar parts. It shows the 52019201AC. So weird because
I now remember running into similar issues years ago with interior trim panels part numbers on a chevy truck (say, running into completely different part numbers for the same exact door panel, or even with the same part number except the last two letters, like you mentioned) and I remember Chevy telling me that happens when GM changes manufacturer/supplier/contractor for that specific part for whatever reason, or if there's even the slightest insignificant design adjustment.
Maybe that's what's going on with these mounts.. Maybe Mopar at some point changed who was making them for them or something. Or maybe they are not as identical as they look. They do look identical in the pictures and so many websites show either one should fit. The only obvious difference I have found (beside the part # itself) is that the the 52019201AC comes with a blue mark from factory and the 52019278AD has a yellow one.
But yeah, 52019201AC seems the safest bet. My local Jeep dealer is always very helpful to me even tho I have never spent $1 there. I may give them a call to confirm.

I have brown dogs on my DD. I had some vibes at first, mainly at idle. They’ve broken in nicely and smoothed out. Even when new, it wasn’t that bad. I think people tend to exaggerate. Plus, they feel more solid. You can actually adjust the main mount to bracket bolt to minimize vibrations when you first get them. After going through a couple cheap sets it was worth it.

Shop around for the one you think it is first. See what it will cost you. Then confirm with your dealership we do have the right part number. At that point get a price and delivery date. Like I said. Don't assume they won't be competitive. They might not be. But if they are or maybe only a couple bucks higher I say go with them.

I wanted those really bad and they are actually cheaper than if I go with Mopar. I never looked into mounts before as mine are still original and finally just now gave up. I started out dead set on upgrading the mounts. I was sure I would find something much stronger and just as smooth, or maybe even smoother than OEM. My philosophy is almost always "when it breaks, don't replace.. upgrade" . Brown Dogs (or any of the other beefy ones) are indeed a big upgrade in strength and performance, but there also seem to be no general disagreement that there's at least *some* downgrade in ride comfort and it's just a matter of how much of it, and how much each one of us can live with.
As far as I know there's a chance I would consider it 100% tolerable.
It's one of those things where I wish you were my neighbor so you could drive me around the block and I could feel for it myself.
So let me ask you this : How long have you had them? And can you still 100% tell it's not your stock mounts in there, all the time?

Thanks. yeah, I was looking at brown dog, sfr, rusty's etc
The problem I have with those is that I am more concerned with road manners and ride quality than I am with ultimate strength. My Jeep is not a crawler or a trail beater.. It's a semi-daily driver with the occasional light to medium trail.

I’ve had the BDs over a year. I don’t notice any difference in the ride quality. I don’t get any vibrations while I’m driving. The only time I notice it is at idle when the engine itself vibrates more and that transfers. I wouldn’t hesitate to get them again over the stock mounts.
Lol same here Cummins. The fan buzzing the radiator is a sound I didn’t want to hear again.
