Default Question about Mopar ATF+4 & Transfer case Lubricant

I'll be doing a transfer case drain & fill in the spring and I'm not sure about which fluid to use. I have a bunch of mopar atf+4 that i'm able to use. But my question is- is mopar atf+4 the same as transfer case lubricant? Or if not i'm open to recommendations
thanks

Your TC is less picky than your trans. Dex/Merc III compatible only for in your transmission.
The TC can have whatever is in your transmission, but you could try ATF+4 in your TC.....as long as you don't put it in your AW4.

Yes u can use ATF 4 In the transfer case. It uses a chain, so it is ok. D/M III In transmission only. Don't even use ATF 4 or even think about it.

It'll work great. ATF+4 is a very stout ATF, and the TC doesn't care about the extra FMs like your trans would.

Been running ATF +4 in my 231 for around 10k miles now. No issues except it feels super smooth when its cold out

Yep the NP231 has extremely basic lubrication requirements. For reference, it was approved by NPG/NVG for use with Dex II all the way through Dex V, several Mercons, ATF+3, ATF+4, etc. Rockland Standard gear even did a test and found it runs very well with synthetic 5w30! (A lot of ATFs apparently evaporate and the tcase can go dry without any leaks.) I've been having trouble finding the article recently, methinks the one I saw was mirrored.
