I'm new to the Jeep Forums.
Bought my first Jeep earlier this week.

Picked up a 2000 XJ Classic from York, PA.

Black. Low Miles. 5inch lift, 32inch tires, low miles, clean interior.
I'm happy with it.

Just got my first CEL great.

luckily I swung by an Advance Auto and they gave me the P0432 Code.
Catalyst 2-1 Efficiency.

Looks like a custom exhaust is in order.

My friend works at Mandrel Bending in Pasadena, MD.
I'll see what he can do for me.

I made the noob mistake today trying to buy gas and didnt realize how to open the fuel door until I came home and googled it.

I picked up the Jeep off Rt30 near Lincoln and Frysville.

I'm already planning some mods.

Exhaust (undecided)
Intake (undecided, someone recommend aFe)
Throttle Body Spacer (undecided)
Cargo Roof Rack (undecided, maybe Safari Warrior)
New tires, something more streetable, but 32s. (undecided on brand/type)
Fog Lights for the front (undecided)
Maybe Lights for roof (undecided)
Replacement Headlights (something brighter, undecided)

Going to do a full tune up. Plugs, Oil, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter.

She's got some "knobby" tires on her.
I don't plan on being a hard core "4wheeler" or "mudder" or "rock-climber".

Reason I bought it:
-2nd vehicle for when my car needs work
-ability to tow my motorcycle to the track/shops
-ability to tow my friends boat if needed
-vehicle to take my 2 dogs to the vets/parks
-easier to fit 4-5 people
-something that can get me around when snow is more than 4-6inches.
-something to help keep the miles down on my daily driver
-I wanted a dependable vehicle, what's more dependable than straight6 4.0
-something that looks bad ***
-I got snowboarding so I wanted be able to get up the mountain even in the snowiest of conditions.
-I got camping. something like this allows me to haul more stuff.
-something I can ride on the beach
-maybe occassional mudding (ive never been.. might be something I get into?)

I have a lot of research I have to do.
(Like figuring out how to change the clock lol)

I'm very happy with my purchase.
I've been looking for a while, and come across some pretty bad jeeps.
I was looking for some in the 3000-4000 range, but they were just awful.
high miles, knocking, leaking, rusted..
so when I found this one, it was the right color, clean interior, less than 100k miles.
I jumped on it. didnt have to break the bank too much to get it.

For the intake, If you plan on wheeling in deeper water (or surf) / want an actually CAI check out the cowl snorkels. These are the two I know about

They are slightly loud inside the cab but their raise your intake to a much safer place and do actually suck Cold air. To be honest though no CAI/etc is going to all that much performance wise with the stock throttlebody on it. It just does not take in enough air. There is a guy on here right now selling bored ones.

Don't get the TB spacer they are worthless-

As for headlights, I recommend getting the Putco harness- The problem is the stock wiring does not allow for enough power to the lights- its not so much the lights themselves. I use the cheap Sylvania silverstars with the Putco Harness and it is 10x better than stock.

what kind of gas mileage is the norm?

cars.com says 16 city/20 hwy.
I'm sure of course that's not what 32 tires would get.

previous owner says it gets average 14.
I just finished my first tank and I averaged 12.

I think after I give her a good tune up and take the tire off the roof, I hope to get back to 14-16 to the tank.

I knew she was going to be a pig, just didn't expect that much.
Doesn't help that I cruise at 65-75. I'm sure if I learn to coast around 50-55 she'll get better fuel economy.
