Default Lifting my jeep CF what'ya think???

The new rig is a 91 and I'm about to lift her up so fat checks can't get in it I've narrowed my choice to 2 lift options. Keep in mind this is my daily driver and I will be running 33's. I plan to go TC drop no sye until I can afford to do sye. I'm on a $1k budget and I plan to go long arm in the future as well when I retire the jeep as a daily and turn it into a trail only rig but for now it's short arms.

First option is the IRO 5.5 lift. I like this lift because it's the most complete box lift under my budget but the thought of going 5.5 on a TC drop has me a little sketch. I ran a RE 4.5 on TC for over 2 years and never felt a single vibe. I called IRO and one of their techs told me I should be fine with just the TC drop as the earlier model xj's are less likely to vibrate without an sye.

Second option is the Zone 4.5 lift. I've heard nothing but good things about zone but the absence of a track bar would bump up the cost of this option as id have to buy one separate and this kit also does not include upper control arms.

Im indecisive as I've heard great things about both lifts. I was kind of leaning on the Zone because of the 4.5 that 1 inch difference is huge it may be the difference between DW or no DW. What do you guys think?

I don't have experience with either, but from what I have ready on here, as long as you get the adjustable track bar, dw shouldn't be an issue

^^^indeed, what I like about buying an incomplete kit is that I get to choose a better option in track bars in the design I want, not being stuck with whatever kit forces me to use.

I ll go with the zone kit

First off I wouldn't buy anything from a kit maker that tells you all you need with a 5.5" lift is a TC drop kit nuts, even at 4 1/2" it needs an SYE.

I would buy neither of those kits the Zone uses a stock set of rear leafs and uses shackles for the lift from what it says.

Put together your own using a Rustys 3" full leaf coil package and ask for the 4 1/2 coils then buy a 1 1/2" Boomerang Shackle for the full 4 1/2" of lift. The spring quality is one of the best offered in any kit and made in NA not China. Then buy a Dbl Shear Track Bar, Adj, U/LCA's and a good set of shocks. Extended brake lines should be used as well as a SB disco's.

I used this setup on mine and ride quality is good on/off road except I used the HD 3" coils with adjustable spacers on mine because of the winch/bumper combo.

You end up with a much better quality lift using pieces that you pick out instead of what someone tells you what you need in a kit.

I can't believe anyone except a used car salesman or a lawyer would state something like this.

Would that be a better option than rustys box kit that uses factory shackles and full 4.5 leafs? The kit is reasonably priced and I know rustys is quality stuff but the shipping I've heard is killer. Also is it worth it to shell out the cash for the upper control arms? I'm not looking for too much performance mainly just lift right now. Later on I'll of course be looking to upgrade shocks and adding a long arm kit. And I'm also not too concerned about ride quality. I used to daily a body lifted yj on leafs front and back that drove like a dump truck I didn't mind it at all.

Yeah he said they've installed a lot of them with no sye and no problem. He made it very clear sye is recommended but you can fly by without it.

The problem with a t case drop is you lose ground clearance and you still have a slip yoke,If you flex the rear suspension enough the yoke could slide fully out of the trans lol. With a sye you lose no ground clearance and the slip yoke is gone.As far as a big lift and 33s some buy the lift first then save up for 35s a re gear and lockers.

I have a clean 2 door man if anything I'll ditch the fenders and trim to the line but I don't want to hack up my fenders dramatically to tuck 33's on a small lift.

I know the consequences of not running sye but it's just not a necessity right now. I'm not doing any extreme crawling nor will I be doing any extreme flexing just trails on the weekends and mainly daily driving. 35's is also overkill for a daily and on stock gears forget about it.

I'm not against an sye I will do it eventually but it's baby steps guys. If I lift it with sye and re gear and the whole 9 I'm looking at $2k plus. Right now I just need lift as a base to clear 33's. The proper add on will be added later ha ha I don't have a credit card that I can just max out and build my rig overnight.

I have a new approach. I priced out my own lift piecing everything together and this is what I have in mind.

Pro comp 3.5 full leaf packs
2 inch shackles
Shackle relocation brackets
TC drop
5.5 RE coils
IRO 6 inch lift nitro shocks
IRO upper and lower fixed control arms
IRO or RE adjustable track bar

All to accomplish about 5.5 lift at around $900

Keep in mind that RE springs net way more than advertised lift height. That 5.5" spring will likely be more like a 7" coil. I run RE 4.5" coils and got 6" of lift. With RE 3.5" leafs and 1" RE shackles I got about 6.5" out of the rear.

EDIT: You want adjustable CA's, the top ones at least.

Personally, I would want the fat checks to get in, would help you fund all your future mods...fat CHICKS on the other hand....well, let's just say your new lift should get you over them with no issues....LMFAO!!!
