Doing gears isn't easy at all.

All of those suggesting a straight regear, how many of you do it on your own?

Gears aren't that bad... As long as you have the proper tool. I did my CJ and my XJ you can do it in the jeep just take ur time check ur back lash and make sure it's in tolerance and make sure u have a good pattern. Set pinion depth first and then shim your carrier. and once you think u got it torque everything and go back and double check everything. You can really mess it up unless you install it wrong and drive it that way. You can find lots of good setup Info online. If you do it yourself you can get ring and pinion sets for like 150 a set.

Never said it was. But putting in weaker axles just for the gearing seems a bit silly to me is all.

The D35 is weaker than the 8.25, yes, but many folks, esp thosethe browsing here, never surpass the limits of their D35 to begin with.

My point is this, so many are quick to point out what they THINK is best, yet it appears they don't think completely through the issue.

If you wanted to have that 4.10 gearing just look in any XJ that's a 4cyl 5 speed... If it's a disco axle, then just swap out the shafts and knuckles from your current D30 to the disco axle which in turn now leaves you with a non disconnect!! A MIlLION times easier than gearing and aligning the teeth perfectly... Just my opinion!

And gee oh dee is right, I've put my Dana 35 through hell and it held up
