Hey im about to pick up a set of yj axles for my 98 xj, can anyone tell me whats mods have to be done?

Why would you want to? The front is going to be a dana 30 same as what you already have. And the rear is a dana 35 which is either the same as what you have or a huge downgrade from a 8.25. I wouldn't waste the time for either front or rear from a yj.

Not to mention the YJ front is the disco axle.

y not take the gears out and swap them in they should be the same axle type so that should work for u. and i dont think that its a dirrect swap of axles there might be some modification done but not 100%

I know theres some mods needed b/c yjs have front and rear leafs. These are stock 4.10 gears how easy would it be to swap the gears? Actually my rear is an 8.25 so wont work right??

if u going to mod those axles y not just get something better like dana 60s or dana 44s and make those work

Well i came across a CL sale of the set sandblasted and painted for $200. Their out of a 93 i believe. I know their not the greatest but cheap.

for 200 at my junkyard i can get 2 axles no matter what they are and i can have them pulled for me. after i graduate college im going to dana 60s

In addition to Leaf springs front and rear, YJ's are spring under axle, so you would have to weld on rear spring perch as well as fab front coils.

It would be a lot easier to just get gear sets for your axles.

Really? I thought regearing was hard, shops charge like $500 per axle
