Default Atlas transfer case

quick question for those who are running an Atlas. just picked up a 98 with an atlas 2 speed t case, it seems pretty noisy compared to my other jeep running a np231. is that normal? fluid looks good and its full. thanks!

It should be fairly quiet in high range, but in low range they can be noisier than the NP cases because they use gears instead of sprockets and a chain. If it's noisy in high, something needs to be addressed.

What oil is in the Atlas?
Mobil 15w-50? That is what I use, one of the recommended fluids. Not ATF!
