I would just find another 8.25. Get one from 96-01 because they have 29 spline shafts which is one spline less than that of the 44. Pretty much equals in strength and everyone always up charges on D44s just because it's a 44. Plus 8.25s are much more common and can be found for around $100-$150.

Its just easier to grab a 97+ one, no need to stop and count splines that way.

That is what I have paid for the last 3 d44's I have had... actually one was 75 plus core

i may be wrong but i think 8.25s have a slight clearance advantage
