renix have smaller intake and exhaust manifold port than the ho 4.0s swaping the head will not really increase any flow unless you have the intake and exhaust port matched to the ho head

^what freegdr said. The only way to convert a renix to HO is to swap the head, intake, exhaust and the entire wiring harness. Granted you can get by with just the head, intake, and exhaust swap

For the bell housing: I'm not sure if the dodge one will work but if it doesnt, i recommend an external slave bell housing.

Correct. You can get away with just the intake exhaust and head. Its easy but you will need some more parts.

You said you want to change to a TB from a 4.0 and that your Renix. To me almost sounds like you have a Carb but im sure you dont.

Whats the overall condition of this jeep and whats your goal. You havent been the clearest or I'm just not understanding you.

If you want cheap and running jeep for your son, then get the renix system working and drive it as is. You really only gain like 15 hp from converting it over to HO system. oh and you get a check engine light with HO too, kinda nice when diagnosing electrical problems.

Or if you want to go all out then find a 92-95 HO motor complete and grab the ENTIRE wiring harness. Find a clutch assembly and bolt on the AX15/231. Drop it in and have fun. I would keep the axles in it until you 'need' to upgrade. 97-99 d30 and a ford 8.8 would be a good combo for anything up to 35-37's

What size tires? Larger tires will kill the power output with stock gearing, most auto's came with 3.55, some with tow package has 3.73. Swapping in an ax15 wont do much.

Where in NC are you? I'm in WNC

A tranny cooler will do wonders to keep alive the auto trans. These trans are about as bullet proof as the motors as long as they stay cool.

I'm in fletcher, between asheville and hendersonville. Yea the gearing between the jeep manuals and auto tranny's are alittle different. Stock manuals came with 3.07 and auto's are 3.55, if that tells you something.
