Problems while downshifting
I have a 95 XJ with the AW4 and my gas pedal is kind of slipping and something makes a snapping sound in the engine bay everytime the trans is trying to downshift specially when going uphills, it is a bit strange since its like the pedal is giving up a bit and goes down a little and keeps doing it until it actually shiftsdown, what I normally do is to release my foot from the pedal and press the pedal again. I had a bad accelerator cable and managed to replace it but its still doing the same, I also adjusted the TV cable and it kinda improves it for a bit, but after a few miles it starts doing the same, I tried pulling hard the TV cable by hand while the engine is off but its holding strong, my trans was rebuilt 50k miles ago and had not have any problems in the past, this happened after I put a BBK throttle body not sure because the rig had not been used for a while

50? Ago.
most likly something is ****ed ****ed tv cable or tv valve inside tranny possobbly its cable connection or pivot point or all the above.
Surely the rebuilder drove vehicle after work was performed.
You drove it home and virtually nowhere sinse rebuilding now drive it back and drop it off and tell whoever did the work to get theyre **** together.

Well, that changes things......Have you ever changed fluid? If so, which fluid did you use?

Can you verify the TV cable adjustment? Is it staying in place?
Any floormats or carpet getting caught up in the pedal?
Got cruise control?

That's kind of a ***** to do.
Play around and lube the mechanism at the throttle first.

Oh, okay.
So, you pull the cable out and it goes right back in?

Is it slam shifting up through the gears?
A throttle valve thats not moving could cause all kinds of weird characteristics. It could also burn your clutches if its not allowing the pressure to increase as you push on the throttle
