Default oil catch can?

ive been noticing oil in my air filter and I don't like it so I bought a catch can. need help on how to run the tubes. its a 99 i6. theres the two valves on the valve cover, and the hole on the intake manifold, and the port on the intake box. the catch can of course only has the in and out ports. please help. I don't want to mess this up with the diff vacuum pressures and such,

Is your CCV system clean? Or did you just buy this catch can without clearing the clogged orifices/tubes/fittings?

I don't know what CCV means? Plus it was only 15 bucks anyway and it couldn't hurt.

The plastic lines coming off of the valve cover. The rear most line gets clogged and needs to be sprayed out with carb cleaner from oil blow by. You need the have those hoses working properly and not use a oil catch can. If they work properly no oil should be blowing by.

X2. Probably oughta replace them and the grommets.

Well the very back hose broke when I redid the valve cover gasket so I have a rubber hose in its place. Every now and then it slips off. But there's not any clamps on it. If having a catch can doesn't effect the engine and I already bought it. What's the prob with me installing one? It would replace the factory hoses[ which you guys are saying are prob clogged] with brand new ones. Plus add a little insurance that no oil will make it to my air filter or intake manifold. Are there any disadvantages of doing his? Or do you guys just like the 4.0l stock? Not trying to be rude I want to understand why you guys are against it.

For it to be fixed correctly there should be no oil blow by. You can bandaid the problem with a catch can or spend a few bucks on the plastic hose and some grommets and repair it so you don't have oil spitting in the intake.
