Question Looking for a timing kit/cam kit

I HAVE A 94 XJ 4.0 L6 4X4
LOOKING TO BUY A CAM KIT I LOOKED ON COMP CAMS BUT ITS SAYING THE KITS ARE "K-KITS' AND WONT WORK ON MODELS LATER THAN AN 88 DUE TO DIFFERENT VALVE STEMS DIAMETERS
LOOKING TO STILL BE ABLE TO DAILY DRIVE MY XJ WITH SOME EXTRA TORQUE

Comp only sells cams and lifters that work with our newer 4.0Ls. They dont make a complete kit like the one you linked. I honestly dont even think they have the correct size valve springs.

Have you taken anything apart yet...just changing a cam to get more power/torque is not worth the effort...its just not there in a cam change. You have to pull the head or minimally remove rockers and lifters... if you pull head then new intake-exhaust manifold gasket..new head gasket and possibly new headbolts...take the radiator and condenser out....you going to trust the original cam bearings?....if you want a new timing chain set...the timing cover has to come off ..means pulling the harmonic balancer...i dont think you can run old lifters on a new cam..so new lifters...will your stock springs cover the new cam valve lift...you are 75 percent into a stroker rebuild . i have built 2 strokers using a comp cam, will find the exact model later..the cloyes double roller timing set..but you need the mopar performance springs retainers and locks to allow for the extra valve lift....lots of work for a minimal improvement cam change..wait until you have time/ money for a full blown stroker...the most expensive part is machine work to bore out to .030 over and install new cam bearings ..bottom line if its running good with no major issues...leave it

Default us made double roller..

CAM ... highest lift with shortest duration and
tightest seperation.
get matching springs and rockers to what your cam choice and try a couple diff alignments...

sorry took so long...stuff was buried way up in the attic I used comp cam 68-232-4 with mopar performance springs p5249464 retainers p4452032 and locks p4529218 I used the cloyes double roller timing chain and gear dont have the number. are you stroking or just rebuilding stock bottom end motor. If the motor has already been bored out you might as well go all the way and put in a stroker crank rods and pistons
