Default Cam gear timing kit.

aight every so im in some pretty dire need of help here. i got a custom cam for my 00" xj engine that im gonna be swapping into my 99" xj. i got the custom cam from comp cams after talking to a sales rep. they ended up sending me the wrong gear timing kit for my engine when i ordered all the parts, upon calling them back they determined they didnt have a setup that would work with my engine. so i got a ful refund on the timing kit. then i looked into JCwhitney and talked to a sales rep there as well and again after they told me the timing kit i got would work when i received the kit and went to install it didnt match up again. so my question is for those of you who either had to replace there stock cam n gear timing kit on there 00-01 engines or those who upgraded on those year engines where did you buy you kit? i need the kit and just waiting on a few other parts in the mail to get cracking on this swap. so any suggestions or company reviews would be great! i dont want to have to go through a jeep dealership for a replacement part as dealerships charge you up the a$$. thanks!!

The only cam that Comp Cams makes that fits the fuel injected 4.0 is the Xtreme 4x4 68-232-4. I have one in my 1992 and it works great. I used Comp Cam lifters and timing set. Maybe different on 2000 though. Just stick with the factory timing set.

00-01 engines use a thrust plate to retain the cam.

All others use a cam bolt with a spring and pin that pushes against the timing chain cover.

That's the only difference.

from what i noticed off the kit i got that was for 99- was that there was no integral key slot? and thats why it wouldnt fit. iv yet to find a kit with the integral key slot.
