I located the temp sensor here but this one only has 1 wire to it as you can see in the picture below. In all the write ups I've seen the sensor that guys have used to replace the light one has multiple wires and appears to be the same sensor used for the cpu that is in front of the engine. Not the case here. This is the temp sensor I have right now with my dummy gauge.
I went to autozone and originally got a sensor that looked exactly the same as the one I have right now. The guy told me it was for a gauge cluster however does that seem right? Do the light and gauge temp sensors both look the same?
I'm starting to lose my mind here trying to find the right damn sensor for this project.
On the write ups I have seen this appears to be the sensor I should be using:
BUT this can't be right as the threads on this sensor are way too big and this does not connect to the single wire I have by my valve cover.

Thats a coolant temp sensor your holding goes on thermostat housing . The temp sender/switch is the single wire one on rear of cyl head. Even though both old and new look same the difference is one lights a light the other moves a gauge.

My temp sensor looks nothing like that. Did they change after 91 or something? My fuel pressure sensor also doesn't connect to a pigtail like that it hooks to a male connector as seen in one of my first pictures
So I not only need new senders but new connectors as well?
Just replace the sensor no plugs/connectors are needed. Wire should just stab down onto top. Yours is not connected in your pick the other one is. Jeep sensors change thru the years ....
