here is the one I built for a 4wd civic I had before the cherokee. It is a safari style snorkel cap from ebay and sanitation pipe. $20 for the cap and maybe $30 for the pipe and fittings and such.

2 generations 87-89 and 89-91 they called them rt4wd very capable little car. I beat on it for 2 years and was about to try to make a lift for it but I traded into the Cherokee and fell in love.
I know this isn't the type of snorkel he was referring to but I was just showing that if you want you can build on for little money to fit anything.

Second that. I would have lost that bet on car knowledge night. That snorkel looks amazing! What is that connector that ties it to the fender? Also plumbing related?

yea I found that monster civic awhile back but the page is all in (german?) something anyway I couldn't read it. I used a heat gun to bend the pipe down and in under the fender then used aluminum dryer vent kinda squished it under the fender and routed it to the air box. I done a small write up civicwagon search for either jcchappy or random pictures in my rt from s.e. okla
