Default need a lil tranny/tcase help 97 xj

So the story goes about 6 months ago, I traded my Honda rancher for a modded 97 xj. Among the mods was a slip yoke eliminator, things went great for a couple months until...I broke a u joint coming down the highway and as near as I can figure the slip yoke eliminator kept the driveshaft from simply falling out. Well the pressure of the driveshaft whipping around at 70+mph literally grenaded the tcase into a thousand pieces and sent stress cracks up the transmission housing. BTW this was on the way home from the tire shop where I had 35'' dune grapplers put on it but back to the point of my post there is absolutely nothing left of the tcase idk which case it came with but its a 4.0 automatic what options do I have as far as donor vehicles to select from and how might I find out which tcase I had or will either work? I appreciate any and all help as I cant wait to have this thing back on the trails.

You've got an AW4 tranny and an NP231J transfercase.
There are data tags on both.

You're going to be ahead of the game if you can find a 97.

You can use a 98+ if you install a 2 fingered reluctor ring in the tail cone. The 98+ used a 4.

There are wiring differences as well.
