I have a 1999 jeep Cherokee and I just recently bought 31x10.50R15 tires. I need to install my flares to give it a more aggressive appearance but I ran into this. How would i go about replacing or fixing this so I am able to install everything?
Problem #2 is going to be that rot at the top of the wheel well, looks like the whole quarter is trashed. If the rest of your ride is in the same shape you may want to cut your losses and just use it for parts/trail beater.
You can definitely get rear quarter panels.. but if you have THAT much rot showing up in your rear quarter panels.. I garantee you... that your XJ is absolutley riddled with rust rot.
Anything can be fixed.. it just depends on how much money and time you want to spend. based on what I can see.. I'd look for another xj wth a good body and blown motor.. and get it for cheap. Spend a month swappng your good parts over to the healthy body.
You guys think he can pick up an xj with a blown motor for less then $500?.. or perhaps a shell from an xj someone parted out?
I have an 89 in my backyard now that I picked up for $150 last week. Body is fairly rust free. I picked it up for the transmission and a few other parts. These things are a dime a dozen and not worth too much effort to 'save' them. If that truly is the only rust, do a cut and fold. Call it a day. If there is rot in the frame, find you another one. They show up often enough cheap.
