I don't think you can use the 96/98 Grand Cherokee fan because it is a larger fan and will not fit in the fan shroud .

if you are moving the same amount of air, be it electric or direct drive fan, it takes the same power, so you either use power direct from engine to mechanical fan, or use power from alternator to fan.

My 2nd from down south has the mechanical and two electric fans, which was good when my serpentine went.

The electric fan(s) aren't going to do anything since the serpentine belt also powers the water pump.
