Caster Adjustment Shoe Bolts Broke. Needed?
Hello All.
I'm working on adding some Control Arm Drop brackets to my current setup and broke off all of the bolts to the caster adjustment shoes. Are these even needed since I have adjustable CA's? Since the bolt hole is oblong is it needed to hold the CA in place so it doesn't move even though I'm not using it for adjustment?
If it's needed I guess I can weld some bolts in there or even weld some Grade 8 washers to the brackets. I know this has to happen alot so how do you guys handle it?
Thanks
Ed

Adjustable control arms will get you close, but they are not as precise as the shims used on the stock mounts...and most aligners will not mess with your adjustable control arms. I would replace/fix them to allow for proper aligning....but I'm sure many would go the other way of just using the control arms for their alignment. Your call in the end.

Sure would give a higher chance of them moving, but should be fine if torqued to spec. You have to get them in the same spot on both sides too...somehow. TJ Lower control arms use cam style bolts to change caster....and those haven't seemed to cause any issues with them moving if torqued.
In the end...I'd just weld bolts on the broken clevis or find some in a junkyard. You're going to save a lot of headaches in my mind.
