Exclamation Broken bolts question

When lifting my jeep we broke all four upper rear shock mount bolts. Anyone have any good ideas for how to extract them??? We have already broke 3 craftsman extractor bits. I'd rather not resort to heat soo close to the fule lines.

Get a nice punch, a hammer, and some drinkables. Wack on the bolts untill you break the welded nut loose and snake in some new ones through the access....stay hydrated.

There are actually quite a few posts on this and other sites about possible solutions to the issue. Most of them have pictures. Personally, I don't have a welder or cutting torches. One of the guys (i'm not sure where) talks about pulling up the back carpet (it comes out relatively easily once you loosten the moldings) and then getting some new bolts with nuts and heavy duty washers, putting the bolt through from the top (on a large heavy duty washer) then putting the nuts and lock washers on from the bottom.

Like I said though, there are alot of ways to do it if you hit the search button on the site, as well as other places online.

The only downfall to the bolt through is that you basically need two people or it's a pain.

Good-luck.

You might even be abole to take a small piece (2 x 3 inches) and drill two holes in it to put the bolts through from the top. Put the steel over the hole, the bolts and washers on, and bolt it up from the bottom.
