Hey everyone! I recently installed a 2 setup on my 97 XJ and I need to order bumpstops to replace my rotted ones. What length should I go with or can I just use stock length? Theres the option of a 3 or 4 in the rear and Im not sure about the front. Im running 30x9.5r15 fallen wild peak at3 as well. Most say to just measure your flex but theres gotta be some consensus as to a general length or need for bigger bumpstops with a smaller lift like this one. Thank you!!
Lift
Front: 2 spacers, new isolators, stock springs, 2 extended bilstien 5100s.
Rear: general spring upcountry leafs (2), IRO shackles 0 lift selected, and 2 extended bilstien 5100s.
I have longer (taller?) rear bump stops but wasn't aware there was more than one size. They only seem to last, say, 20 months, whereas the originals lasted 20 years. Before I fit my latest ones, I'm proposing to drill the baseplate & insert a couple of drywall lining screws, which should stop them shedding the rubber buffers.
Longer front ones don't seem to be available here but I think Daystar make them. Hockey pucks screwed to the spring perch seem to be favourite way tp go. Something I'll have to give some thought to when I fit my +3" springs.
I agree . Ive never really understood the xj crowds infatuation with bump stops.
Because you can only cut the rear quarter panel so much to fit bigger tires so need to mange up travel. Whereas on a TJ or Toyota pickup or 4 runner you can cut as much as you want and the body wont fall apart.
Not very relevent to this particular jeep since the 30s should fit in the wheel well good enough
