i believe that its either 3.73 or 3.93
you can also find the common gears swaped into them in aftermarket ie. 4.10 ,4.56 or 4.88 ect

Do you think it was standard in all 7ft beds? Or would it be different in a 2wd vs 4wd? If you find that info, a link would be nice...

I had 13 Comanches as demos at the dealership. All of them longbeds. Also owned an 86 longbed. Never had a Dana 44 until I bought my 90 a few years ago.

this wasnt where i initialy found it (couldnt find it at first so i just started looking through whaterver google spit out) but its the info i was looking for

what i was talking about is the metric ton package, that the d44 and 7ft box were a part of... this article (the mtric ton part) is almost exactly the same to what i was talking about early just worded differently.. in this article it only says the long bed waspart of the metric ton packge, the 7ft box is the long bed....

its the 6th andd 7th paragraph under powertrain in the article
http://www.allpar.com/trucks/jeep/comanche.html

i had to re read it over and i think my confusion came from this article and the other i mentiond saying that the 7ft box was part of the metric ton package but not saying like what cruiser54 is talking about was also used on the standard mj's.

Metric ton was longbed only. Metric ton got Dana 44 or AM20. Longbed does not equal Dana 44. Kinda like a mathematical equation.
