So is there a difference if it is left or right hand drive?

my possible preferred front would be an Eaton Truetrac, given that;

1) 99% on tar so I want something that has no effect on steering,

2) less expensive than a selectable locker

3) my understanding of the way they work is superior off-road to regular LSD, (and have no effect on-road)

can barely justify the expense even, as only 1% off-road,

dont want an auto locker in the front

anyone with a Truetrac in front care to comment?
I have a TruTrac in the front of my XJ. It's my daily driver. I don't notice it at all on the road. And it does great in snow. I have the 242 case so I run it in full time 4WD when we get mixed snow on the roads and it does better than when it had an open diff. Once we get full snow coverage on the road, I shift it into part time 4WD and it's virtually unstoppable.

Yeah I knew I would need the whole thing carrier and all. As much as I hate to do it i need to crack open the diffs and see what is going on in them anyway. I am running 30 inch tires. But at 60 mph i am only turning 2000 rpm. Just want to make sure it is 3:55s. Thinking I want 3:73 for 31 inch tires. Just have to locate 3:73 for the chrysler8.25.

Going from 3.55 to 3.73 isn't worth doing, 4.10 gears would be better.

I had a Spartan locker installed in the front dif this week to go along with the one in the rear. It was a little concerning at first as I could hear it clicking more than I noticed the rear doing. I guess the springs were just a little tight because by the time I got home it had quieted down and was hardly noticeable.

Lots of info to work through. While at work we were watching some jeeps in some Tennessee sand mines. You could tell who had lockers and who did not. I was wondering what 4:10s with 31s would do to my gas mileage? As I plan to drive cross country to moab.

I have swapped in axles and I run 4.27's with 31" BFG ATs and I get ~18 MPG or so. Though I haven't verified that in a while.

Heres my home brewed auto locker. This 8s my 8.25 i think. So far ive welded 2 corporate 10 bolts a dana35 dana60 14ff and i think thats it. Ive not found the need to run a locker in front yet putn the power down to both rears all the time improves everything 9ff rd. On rd i do cringe at times as mud tires hook pretty hard on asphalt thats soakn in 100 plus temps. On a rig that drives offroad 1% of time it may be cheaper to run 9000lb engo winch instead of installing lockers
