Default Painting fender flares and end caps. Take them off or leave them on?

What is easiest? I read somewhere that leaving them on is easier so I started taping so I could paint them tomorrow. After a while I realized that there are some places that look like they will be hard to tape off. Is it that hard to just take everything off? Thanks.

Personally, I think it would be easier to tape them off and paint them on the car. I dont know if the flares mount the same on the newer models, but when I took them off my 90 I was bending/breaking stuff left and right. It would have been a pain to put them back on. Granted, I probably wasnt as careful because I knew they weren't going back on, but it still would have been a pain.

Oh yeah that reminds me, it's a 98. And thanks. I already have one side taped so I guess I'll just do the other side and add the newspaper tomorrow.

for the newer models i would just leave your factory flares on... they are such a PITA to remount and keep em mounted afterward. why not show us some pics when your finished as well

There are like 6 bolts to take them off, assuming the bolts aren't rusted to ****, they will be easier to just take off. If you break the plastic tabs holding the metal brackets on, dab some RTV on the metal bracket and glue it back onto the flare.

what kind of paint are you going to use. the reason I ask is that they are made of plastic/rubber. the paint matters.

Going to use krylon fusion for plastic satin black. Researched and it seems like the best/easiest paint to use.

That paint works great on plastic.
