Looking to instal a locker in my 8.25 with 4.10 gears... Question is what will I all need and what spline?? Give me all the info you've got! And I am doing an aussie locker cause I don't have a whole lot of money and am only going to put that locker in so that's out of the picture!

 

An Aussie will cost you $300, their USA company LOKKA sells them for around $200.
What year is your jeep? the spline count changed in 96 for the 8.25.
All you will need is a specific set of feeler gauges to install the locker. And read the confusing directions three times before starting. Once you figure out how, they are easy.

 

I do believe you will need a "Master Install Kit" for your 8.25 for the install. If so you need the kit you can get them for around $100 or so mine were that price when I re-geared and installed lockers those were for a D30/Chy 8.25. They came from Rustys Off Road and the installer did tell me it was a good kit for the price.

Hey OneWheelWonder. The way your first sentence is written I will assume you have a Chrysler 8.25 rear axle with 4.10 gearing already installed. You will need this Aussie locker, http://www.aussielocker.com/index.ph...-xd-58229.html,
which is for a 97+ Chrysler 8.25 with 29 spline count.
If you have an older 8.25 with 27 spline count you won't be using an Aussie, they don't make one for that application. You could look at this locker, http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-879...ker-27spl.html, I have this locker in my 8.25 and have had no issues.
For a lunch box locker install only, you will need just basic tools. Good luck and have fun.

No because you don't pull the pinion.

 

Aussie doesn't make a locker for a 96 and older 27 spline count 8.25. I don't know if you could change the axle shafts to newer 29 spline shafts, maybe. Then you could use the Aussie.

Now you have a few to choose from. I didn't catch where you are from but if you are in an area that gets ice and snow you should think twice before putting an auto locker in the rear. The only way I can get moving in slippery conditions is in 4wd. A limited slip works great on the ice and snow.
