I am thinking of looking for a short rack for the hood. After a day of spearfishing we have wet salty gear and I don't want to throw it in the back. Its easier to spray off the hood than the roof with the 4 1/2 lift. Anyone have one or know of one?

Never seen a hood mounted rack I've seen, nets used on the hood, but honestly there are better options. If you have a receiver use a cheap hitch mounted basket that way the salt water does not soak your front end.

Right now I throw my rash guard gloves and boots up there to take to the cleanout station about 1 mile away. I am not impeding my line of sight, and the speed limit on base is 10mph.

Fabricate or buy a cooler rack for the front (bumper, not hood). I always had one when I was surfcasting. Waders, any wet gear and if I was lucky, fish went into the cooler.....

 

Your hood will get a bit warm too, I dunno if you'll see any effects though.

I agree with zone. Get a hitch basket.

Man I wish I could go spearfishing with a rash guard. Out here the water is like 40-55°F. Gotta drop 350 on a 7mil wetsuit before I can even get in the water. I bought jeep parts instead
