Hello all - I have an '88 Jeep Cherokee that I love. But the braking power sucks.
I have replaced the stock brake master/booster. Pads/drums good.
I know that the front brakes do app.60% of the braking power.
My options:
1. dump the truck (not gonna happen)
2. replace the knuckles with larger ones from a different Jeep so I can put larger disks/pads on it
3. convert the rear to disks.
Thoughts? AND - what Jeep years/models would I get as replacement knuckles that work (have you done this?)?

Thanks for your input.
Redrooster.
Do the disk to rear first. Then go from there. I think the older XJs didn't come with a power brake booster. (trying to remember but I believe that is what many upgrade to as well)
Hey I just signed up for cherokee forum. Im not fully sure how it all works, heck I haven't even been legally driving that long. I have a 99 that I'm currently dropping a 4.6 in. I know the whole thing about the stock dented exhast and why its there, but since Im running headers i wanna get all the easy performance out of it on the exhast end because I minus well. If anyone else fixed it, is there any easy way that you can DIY or should I completely replace it. I don't really feel like taking it to a place to get fixed. If anyone got a new one where did you get it? This is my first post so if I accidently sent it to the wrong place I apologize. I appreciate any information. Have a great day.

Welcome! Happy to see ya working on something and making it your own!
As for the performance aspect, there is no performance loss with that dent there. Also if you take it offroad you will just get another dent. There is a show called Engine Power and they did some tests with headers and what happens when they are dented. They didn't see any loss of HP when the tubes were dented, anywhere on the headers.
I would say just let it be and put forth your efforts onto something else.

Summit or Jegs.
I’ve been using one for about a year.
This is exactly what it looks like.
Hmm that is very interesting, deffinitly put my mind at ease. I will definitely wait for a little before doing anything and give it some thought. Have a great day!
Hi, I'm gonna replace my muffler and I like the sound from the Magnaflow so will probably go with that. Everything else is stock. Whats the main difference between these oval ones and the round ones? what should I get? I like a good noise but nothing obnoxious, you know, I wanna be able to talk on the phone etc. Also, whats the best way to weld it on? Remove the whole exhaust system? just the tail pipe and muffler? Leave everything on the car? just dont know how easy the top would be to weld.
So you're a self proclaimed exhaust genius, eh? Then I call rocket scientist!
Rocket Scientist? Then I claim Nuclear Warhead!
By the way, I have this on my jeep. It's only T403 stainless, but won't rust through like stock exhaust. The muffler drones a bit on hard acceleration and you also need a cat and stainless clamps to do it right. The free clamps in the kit are not stainless. You may need to bend the support arm on the front pipe to adjust so pipe doesn't vibrate on the cross member.
In 3 words or less, please describe in detail, what the the addition of crossover pipes does to the typical torque cure of a "V" type engine and how the pipe size effects that curve.
My XJ is stock but hopefully not for long. I am going to need to replace the muffler soon and would like to get something with a good sound. Don’t want to sound like a Honda tuner (crap). I drive a 93 2.5 5- speed, suggestions
