Planning on replacing the whole system from the manifold back. From the mountains of pages I've read, unless the manifold on the 99XJ is leaking, I might as well just replace the other pieces. Let me know your thoughts on this.

2.5" pipe from the collector to a 2.5" Walker universal CAT, then into a Dynomax 2.25" system for the XJ. Thinking of adding a flex joint between the CAT and Muffler.
Opinions?

Walker and Dynomax are owned by my company, so it's 50% off for me. (as well as Rancho and Monroe)

INFO: 99XJ has 96K, big factory CAT can hanging low, and the exhaust was cut off just before the rear axle. (kinda fume-E, but no stock header leaks detected)

Default Flowmaster Super 40 With/Without Cat

Just welded a 2.5" In/Out Flowmaster Super 40 on my 2000 XJ, and decided to keep the back cat. Ended up not being as loud as I would like. How much louder would cutting the back cat out make my exhaust? I dont mind inside noise.

If you replace it with a higher flow cat, it will get a little louder.

Would a walker glass pack resonator double as a minor muffler? I heard it gives a deep throaty noise rather and is sturdy. Is it any good in the first place?

Magnaflow straight through muffler on my 4cyl. Sounds like a tractor.

I'll check it out after school. Does it have that deep throaty noise that's so sweet?

The cat-back exhaust I'm looking at says it will not fit models with a welded hanger on the pipe. Is there a way to get around that? Can I just cut the hanger off and have a new one welded on?

Also, can a muffler that broke off of its weld and is suspended between the cat and exhaust pipe cause me to fail a smog check (high NOx readings?)? If so could spot welding it back on as a temporary fix work?

Could I buy this: http://performance-curve.com/84-01ch...5tailpipe.aspx, get a high flow cat, and take it to an exhaust shop and get it all put together? Would I generally save money buying it this way and supplying them with most of the parts? Sorry, new to exhausts.

Assuming I'll need a down-pipe and downstream o2 bung welded on the cat I buy as well? Have tons of exhaust leaks and want to get it sorted. Plan on replacing stock manifold with headers down the road as well.

Edit: Also want it loud. Don't want mufflers. Going to get a catalytic converter even though in Alberta I don't need to. From what I understand a downstream o2 sensor plays an important role in 98 cherokees unlike some earlier years, so I would like to maintain proper function and not have a CEL all the time, thus I will keep a cat in the system.
