all muffler and exhaust questions go here!!!!!!
Looong time lurker, but finally got back to my Cherokee build, restoration actually. It's been on a rotisserie for 3 years [new floor pans] while I restored a 45 y.o. sailboat.
Now back to the important things, like the Jeep.
I'm doing a few engine mods and am looking at Borla headers, but, for 4.0, they indicate 1993 and up.
I was wondering what the difference would be in the headers between 1992 and the 1993 and, would it make any difference.
Basically, would a header listed for a 93, fit the 92?
Thanks,
rj

I hear magnaflow's aren't bad for drone. I have a thrush welded and it drones really badly in town but not too bad on the highway. Check out the exhaust clip sticky. I have my jeep on there and there's a few mags too.
In the Performance Curve kits the 2 chamber muffler is the knock off flowmaster super 44 correct? Also, is there any sound difference between the fm 44 and the knock off?

You can get an FM40, 44, magnaflow, or a knock off of each. I imagine the knock offs sound a bit different.

If your on a highschool budget check out mudfrog on here (performance-curve.com ) he had flowmaster and Magnaflow catbacks for 150ish. And there is a 5% discount. There's where I bought most of my stuff from for my XJ and YJ

I have plans to install a resonator that a friend removed of a racing vehicle it's mouth is 2.78" wide, and body length around 22.9", 12" body width...
I have the idea of putting it right after the CAT, and then a small pipe to the right side, close to the rear tire, ( kinda Viper styling ). How this will affect performance/gas mileage.
Or shall I install it following the Jeep's original muffler route?
This Jeep is currently being know in Costa Rica as the prettiest best looking jeep in the hole country, ( not Joking ), and since I just bought a sedan I will keep this Jeep as a toy for of road trips...
Any advice on this will be appreciated

I for one like Stainless for my exhaust. You put it on and forget about it. All the XJ's in the family have stainless exhaust. I had the muffler man cut the old exhaust near the oil pan and fabricate the new in from there. I used a Borla universal 304 stainless universal muffler, Magnaflow ss cat and ss tubing I purchased from my local scrap yard.

With a side exit you'll crush it between the body and a rock or log ect.....
