so i recenteley went doorless and noticed how my exhaust growls at around 1500 rpm cruising its very loud and vibrates everything what type of exhaust will fix this?

No flowmaster 50 would probably be good. And a new magnaflow cat. Rattling would be a cause of your exhaust system now being welded together or hanging too low and rattling against the cross member, which usually happens when its not welded together.

I would agree, weld and hang it. And a 50 is. Good muffler little rumble but nothing crazy

I'm sorry its not rattling its just the rumble sound vibrating the cab that's annoying so a 50 would be good?

Offbrand of a flowmaster 40. That a shop put on for the time being because my old exhaust had a hugh whole so I straght piped it for awhile then got that put on

Ya a 50 would make it better AND a cat converter if you don't have one. You can find them pretty cheap on Amazon. I got mine for $40. Also make sure there are no holes in your exhaust system anywhere. And have everything welded up at your local muffler shop.

Id just run the test pipe there is a pipe called a cat canceller you can run. I have an 89 with just a wore out glass pack and no cat runs fine drive fine and gets pretty decent mpgs. You will probably notice a slight bit less mpgs then my normal which is between 15-17 mpgs in the city. I say this because you have an after cat O2 sensor and I only have a before cat one. One thing you can do is put a spark plug non-foller on the after cat O2 sensor should help alot with the sensor reading like it should.

Can someone tell me which of these are the right part for a 1996 XJ, for clamping the cat to header, and cat to muffler? (The cat' is
a Magnaflow 23226 a Magnaflow 23226
...this is my "weekend" project lol.) Both are 2.25 ID clamps. With the apparently typical problem (indents from the old u-bolts) I'm having getting the old cat out, I don't want to use u-bolts to put the new one in.

You can get band clamps at any auto parts store, so no waiting on or paying for shipping. As long as you have the right I.d. then you're fine.
