Sorry to beat a dead horse fellas. Let me rephrase. To replace my steel ones, what size wheel and backspacing (new aftermarket or factory used) should I get to run 235/75r15's at stock height that will also work with no issues if I lift it 3-3.5" and go to an inch or two bigger tire? Just want to avoid buying new wheels twice within a year or so.

 

4" backspacing is pretty safe bet for most tires. Or im sure you can run the 235's on stock wheels and just get spacers when you decide to go with a wider tire.

 

I advise against spacers. There's nothing inherently wrong with them, but it is one more thing that can fail. Besides that, a good set of spacers will run you about as much as a set of aftermarket wheels.

I agree with 4" BS. On my XJ, I ran 33x12.5s on 4" BS wheels. I think it's a good looking stance for any tire size, and it's far enough not to rub the LCAs. You may need to bumpstop to prevent them from rubbing your flares, but that's cheap and easy with hockey pucks.

 

Damn where do you buy rims at if there almost the same as spacers?

 

Thanks guys. I haven't looked into the laws, but if I know Virginia like I think I do, I would imagine that spacers wouldn't pass inspection.

Yes, there are cheaper spacers, but I wouldn't trust anything but Spidertrax if I was gonna go that route.

I have a 3" rc series 2 aal lift and it rides fine.

 

there should not be a law against spacers. I run spacers, and they are very safe as long as you maintain them and keep them torqued properly.

 

There should be an iq test at the point of purchase, because we all know that half of the people on the road don't take care of their vehicles.

 

Hey guys, sorry if this has been asked before, I dont have the time to read through 500+ pages to see if it has been.

Anyways, my dad was saying it wouldn't be a good idea to get wheels with 3.75" backspacing, as it might adjust the steering capabilities on road too drastically. Any thoughts?

Also, im on 10.5 width 31"s on stock wheels but if I wanted to go to some wider 33's later what size wheel width would I need to run my current tires as well as my future tires?
