It's supposed to be a 6.5 in lift, also if my track bar isn't properly adjusted could it cause my axel to be off center?

Default Maximum suspension lift without driveline modification

Hello all. I have a 2001 XJ. I am trying to figure out the maximum suspension lift I can install without changing the driveline. Also, If anyone has suggestion of which brand I should go with, it would be very helpful. There are so many brands out there, I have no idea what the difference is besides the cost. Thanks!

on a 97-01 you're limited to about 3" before you need to either install a SYE or drop the transfer case.

As for lifts - look at Rough Country or Iron Rock Offroad.

I recommend kits with full new leaf packs and springs, not add-a-leafs or blocks/spacers. You will also need new shocks.

it replaces your vacuum actuated front axle disconnect with a more reliable cable that you just pull

Is this mostly for ease of installation, or because of corrosion on old parts, or because it's dumb to "add a leaf" to an old worn out leaf pack?

If it's the last one, does Rancho part number RS44148 (advertised as a 1.5" pack) truly go along with Rancho's 2.5" kit?

all 3, plus they tend to sag back to where the packs were originally very quickly, and ride very rough. You're essentially supporting the entire weight of the truck on a single strip of metal instead of several.

That sounds logical enough.

Not that i don't trust/believe you (i do), but i'm assuming it wouldn't be the end of the world if i try an "add-a-leaf" for the moment since it already comes with the kit and then swap in a new pack when i have the money later? (Bad time, trying to finish a race car, didn't really want to spend the money now.)

Appreciate the help! I'm a newbie when it comes to suspension setups like this, and.... lifting instead of lowering.
