Beat it out. Its pressed in

 

It's only pressed in on the 97+. Pre 96 they are threaded so beating it wont do any good. Also if it is pressed in a pitman arm puller works pretty good to draw the stud out

 

I have a 98. I can see that weird washer showing through.

So the consensus is that it's ok to try to beat it out of there?

Hi, I've looked on this forum many a times and found it to be very helpful but am new to the posting thing so i hope im in the right place. I got a lift from my friend for my 92 cherokee and i cant get the front axle to line up right. I think im going to need longer upper control arms and some lower ones to match? Im nowhere near all that knowledgeable on the subject as this is the 1st lift i have ever installed. I guess i need to figure out what arms to order and/or what anyone would recommend? Any advice that can point me in the right direction would be much appreciated!! Thanks

I would say to order adjustable control arms in case you go with a higher lift

 

Now I am thinking that the lift Rough Country sent me did not raise the jeep 3"

I came on this thread and asked that question before because in the front I have 19" from my center of the cap to the bottom of the flare. Which = 1.5" of lift. In the rear I have 19" from the center of the cap to the bottom of the flare which is 2" of lift.


When I asked about this some people thought that I should measure from the top of the axle to the bottom of the frame rail for a more accurate measurement. I have not done this yet as I felt that what was said was correct and that 'Different years the flare maybe at different heights.'


But that said, Rough Country does not have a 2" lift with new front and rear springs.


So I just though all was OK and since I did not measure axle to frame that I got what I paid for but now I am unsure. But how?

 

Measure axle to frame to be sure. I don't recall the stock numbers off-hand, but dukie or someone should be chiming in with help. Do you have heavier bumpers or a lot of cargo? Those things would cause it to be lower.

 

I have a 2000 jeep cherokee sport that im about to put a 6.5 rouch country x-series lift on and i plan on getting some mickey thompson tires 33x12.5r15
but for the rim how could i find a nice offset to help with the top heavyness?

There's your answer. If your axle-to-frame rail measurements are less than 3" and you don't have anything weighing down your XJ, I'd call the company and see what they say. Most companies underrate their lifts to compensate for armor, so it's actually taller than advertised. If it's significantly shorter, there could (possibly) be something wrong.

 

Do you recommend any companies in particular?
