I'm finishing up the install on my Rusty's 8.5" LA lift. I'm having a slight problem where the tie rod connects to the drag link. The terminal is hitting the bolt that holds the steering damper on...... I was thinking of just switching the tie rod over to the front. Will this cause any problems, or is this normal?? The kit came with an adjustable track bar and drop pitman arm. Everything else seems to line up right, just the rubbing of the screw.... Thanks guys for any advise on this!

Wanting to pull the trigger on the Rancho 2.5 lift and shocks to take advantage of their rebate promotion. Would like to replace factory leaf springs while I'm at it. The optional sold separately full packs (rs44148) are advertised as 1.5" springs. I called their customer service line and asked why the 2.5" lift kit would use 1.5" rear springs and the guy told me that it was to level the vehicle because the rear sits higher? Does this make sense to anyone? If the rear tends to sag over time why would I want to start it out in a hole to begin with?

Any recommendations for new leafs to pair their AAL with or ones that would net around 2.5" on their own?

Old man emu 2.5 inch springs are the only 2.5 inch full packs that I know of.

The rear springs that come with this kit do not sag as quickly as the factory springs. The springs in most aftermarket lift kits are more of a heavy duty spring and therefore once they are done with their settling/break-in period, the generally retain their form much longer than the factory leafs.

The leveled out look is more popular nowadays - unless you're doing a LOT of towing, this setup should do you fine.

Been looking at lift kits for my 98 sport, as Ive found a set of 31 10.50 15 General Grabber at2's at the right price.

Anyway over here in the UK XJ's arent as popular so not spoilt for choice, of where to get gear from.
I ve found the 3" add a leaf kit from Rough Country listed on a UK based site

http://www.llama4x4.com/page13.htm

I figure at the price they're selling them for I couldnt bring one in my self for that with shipping and customs duties

anyway how easy are they to fit? and would the brake hoses need extending?

I haven't done an AAL, so I don't know about difficulty. Front brake hoses probably need to be relocated if you plan to take it offroad (here).

I am running it, and I'd say there are at least a dozen other people on here that do, it is a good kit, you will have to buy shocks, and you may want new front brake lines, also an adjustable track bar. Difficulty of the install depends on the jeep. Bolts often break on the shocks in the rear and leaf spring bolts are commonly stubborn. I did mine in the driveway with hand tools and a 3/8 impact. It may be too big of a project for someone who isn't mechanically inclined, but I would say most people can do it.

AAL isn't hard, I did that in my first jeep. Not as durable though.
