"Damage" is relative here. You will get vibrations because the angle the U joint is at won't be at its optimal place. The 1-2 degrees lower is so that the joint is at an acceptable range under heavy acceleration. You could run it perfectly straight if you basically let the engine idle up and never used the skinny pedal. Lower is going to result in vibrations. The constantly changing velocity - the actual cause of the vibrations - eventually breaks joints and damages gears and bearings.

Hey guys, I just bought a '98 XJ and it will be my daily driver but...
I still want it to look good!
So I was looking for either a 3'' Skyjacker kit OR Rubicon Express
The thing is I want something complete and not say after... maybe I should of bought the bigger kit.
I already have a Jeep TJ on 37 with a total of 7.5" lift on it, so I'm not really looking on going offroading that much with the Cherokee... more maybe fishing and camping etc etc
But I would like something nice and complete... don't want to go 4'' because I'll need a SYE and drivings probably right?
So I need your advice PLEASE!!!
Thanks to you all

I have black rock 909 aluminum rims 31" tires and 3" lift. You got a lot of other stuff to do too. You need longer control arms before you can fit 31s pretty sure.

You may also need an SYE with a 3" lift. Just depends on your XJ and how much it likes being lifted.

The Rubicon Express lift is going to get close to 4", if not more. I wouldn't go with Skyjacker at all. Just my opinion of course, but I had one on my Yota and it was a super rough ride.

The thing is all is original on it so... instead of changing for OEM parts why not just lift it a bit and change the parts as well
