You can have rims recentered with a 5x4.5 center. But just not worth it.
They sucked that bad?

They are just heavy tires. Great for dedicated crawler, with power. But all around trail tires, they are not.
Honestly would never think of putting them on a xj. Just to heavy for it.

A 2" budget boost will be plenty.

I'd move it to the hole closest to the front.

When i first added an xj main to my pack, i had a stock shackles on the second hole. Leaf couldn't flex enough so i was bouncy. Now that i have the boomearng shackles on the second hole she rides nice. You may need a longer shackle. Try the first hole and see the results but may be worse due to springs having less of a compression factor

if it rides worse im taking the brackets off and going back to vertical. lol. ive took it apart 9 times, theres gotta be a faster way to move it back a hole without taking wheels off, dropping axle, shocks?

I use a reel of wire and a jack to lift up the jeep to change holes

Depends on how much your fenders are cut, and what wheels/backspacing you wish to run.

I have stock height with Bushwacker Flats and 31x10.50's on 4" backspaced wheels. Only rubs if I want to flex on anything, and that's because I haven't bumpstopped accordingly.
